Terms of use

1. Agreement

These terms are a contract between you and AskRem ("we"). They apply to the askrem website, the waitlist, venue sign-ups and the AskRem apps. By using them you accept these terms and our privacy policy.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 14, or have a parent's or guardian's consent. Nightlife plans and sponsored steps are only for users 18 and older. You're responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe.

3. Plans are suggestions

Rem makes plans with AI, using what you tell it and third-party venue data. Plans are suggestions, not guarantees: hours, prices, promotions and availability can change, so check before you go. We're not a party to what you book or buy at a venue.

Some steps are sponsored by venues. They're always labeled "Sponsored", and a venue must fit your request before it can pay to appear. How Sponsored works.

4. Waitlist and referrals

Joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee access on a given date. Your position can change as other people refer friends. Referrals must be real people who choose to join; we may remove fake or duplicate sign-ups and adjust positions accordingly. Waitlist positions and referrals have no cash value.

5. Venues

• Venues pre-load a wallet and set a maximum price per occasion (for example, date night or group outing).
• A venue is charged only when a customer redeems their askrem code at its door, and never more than the maximum it set for that occasion.
• Any unused wallet balance is refunded on request.
• Montreal founding partners who pre-load $600 get the full amount back on request if we don't send them customers.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Venues must only submit truthful content they have the rights to.

6. Your content and conduct

You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a non-exclusive licence to host and display it as needed to run AskRem. Don't post illegal, hateful or harassing content, impersonate others, spam, scrape the service, try to make Rem ignore its safety rules, or use AskRem to track or harm anyone. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

7. Points, AskRem+ and payments

Points and rewards have no cash value and may change. Paid features are billed by the app store or our payment processor. Purchases are non-refundable except where the law or the store's policy says otherwise.

8. Intellectual property

AskRem, Rem, our logos and our software belong to us or our licensors. You may use the apps for their intended purpose; don't copy, resell or reverse-engineer them.

9. Disclaimers and liability

AskRem is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the greater of CAD $50 or what you paid us in the last 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act or other laws that can't be waived.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using AskRem and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or end access for breaches of these terms or to protect other users.

11. Law, language and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes belong to the courts of the district of Montreal, unless consumer law gives you another choice. These terms exist in French and English; if they differ, the French version prevails. We'll tell you about important changes before they take effect.
